How to read a strip

1. Rate: count the QRS complexes in 6 seconds and multiply by 10.
2. Rhythm: are the R-to-R distances regular?
3. P waves: is there one before every QRS?
4. PR interval: normal is 0.12–0.20 sec (3–5 small boxes).
5. QRS width: normal is under 0.12 sec (3 small boxes). Wide means it starts in the ventricles.

Practice tool by Nursing Algorithm. Simulated strips for education only.
